Democracy, please!
Lately it feels like being a citizen comes with a few more responsibilities than usual. I keep coming back to the idea that small actions still count. This postcard kiosk started when I was flipping through a stack of old cards, most of them written more than fifty years ago. They’re just thin pieces of paper, but they survived. They carried someone’s message across time, which is kind of incredible.
Postcards are slow on purpose. And when you send one, people notice. The same goes for writing to elected officials. It’s a simple, physical way to say where you stand. One card won’t change much, but a lot of them, sent consistently, might.
I’ve included the files and a materials list for the kiosk I built, but don’t feel bound by any of it. Use what you have. Scale it up or down. Simplify it. Make it fit your space, your budget, and your style. The point isn’t to copy this exactly. It’s to make something that works where you are.
Thanks for taking a look at this. If you build one of your own, I hope it feels as useful and straightforward as this one has for me.
